Vancouver’s Alex Burrows and Chicago’s Brian Campbell nearing return from injury

A pair of key players for Western Conference contenders are getting close to returning to their teams lineups. In Chicago, defenseman Brian Campbell is back on his skates and working out after injuring his right knee during training camp. Campbell being out of the lineup has thinned things out for the Blackhawks, but they haven’t really seen any ill effects because of his absence. Coach Joel Quenneville believes he’ll be back soon, but when “soon” actually is is unknown.

In Vancouver, tenacious forward Alex Burrows who has been recovering from shoulder surgery in the off-season has been cleared for contact and is working out with the team now. Coach Alain Vigneault says that he’s got high hopes for a November 2nd return to the lineup for Burrows. Burrows was a 35-goal scorer last year and equally effective at even-strength and on special teams as both a power play and shorthanded threat. While Burrows has been out, the Sedin twins have had a few players fill in his spot on their line and none with any real chemistry to help them break out.
