A bit of surprising news out of Tampa Bay today as the Lightning have announced they’ve come to terms with their third round pick from the 2010 draft, defenseman Radko Gudas. Gudas is a tough customer. At 5’11” 195 pounds his stature isn’t imposing, but he’s a scrapper, racking up 151 penalty minutes last season with the WHL Everett Silvertips. He added seven goals and 30 assists for the Silvertips as well, and with his age, he’ll be joining the Lightning farm team in Norfolk right away next season. That is, of course, if he doesn’t make the NHL team. Gudas will help out the Lightning’s depth on defense right away but if he ends up playing in the NHL at all next year, it’ll because of an injury catastrophe in Tampa Bay.
