Shane Doan had separated shoulder

Well, now we know what was the issue with Shane Doan.

According to Sergey Kocharov, PR director of the Phoenix Coyotes, Doan suffered a separated shoulder in Game 3. It’s an injury that normally takes about 4-6 weeks to return from, at full health, and Doan was fighting to return for Game 6 and 7.

Now that we know exactly what the injury was, something everyone suspected, it’s likely a good thing he wasn’t allowed to play. Doan’s contributions to the game are more physical than others and while his offensive capabilities would have been helpful, there’s no way he would have been as effective as the team needed him to be.
