The Phoenix PP comes alive, Coyotes lead 3-1

After the first period, I was convinced that the Coyotes wouldn’t be able to sustain their lead, especially with the way the Red Wings were dictating play.

Yet it’s the power play of both teams that has made the difference: the Coyotes ability to take advantage and the Red Wings futility with the man advantage in the first period.

Mathieu Schneider and Radim Vrbata both have power play goals for the Coyotes in the first period, with Schneider doing exactly what he was brought in to do: unleash booming shots from the point.

Brad Stuart was able to get the Red Wings on the board with a nifty wrist shot that came right after a bad turnover by the Coyotes, but so far in the second period it’s been Phoenix with the upper hand.
