Marc Savard passes neuro test, closer to returning

Great news today for the Boston Bruins and Marc Savard, as the Boston Bruins have released this statement this afternoon:

On Tuesday afternoon, Marc Savard passed his neuropsychological testing. He will continue to work towards regaining his game shape, and will have a final meeting with Dr. Kelly McInnis at MassGeneral Hospital before being cleared to play in games. There is no date or time line scheduled for this meeting.”

Savard skated this morning for the second straight day, saying that he hopes to be back in time to play in the first round series against the Buffalo Sabres. He worked hard for 40 minutes today, pushing himself harder than before and reporting no ill effects related to his concussion.

The final hurdle now is for Savard to get back into game shape. After not skating for over a month, there’s no telling how long that might be. Yet now, after passing the neuropsychological tests, he can practice with the team. Said Savard:

Savard was asked if he would be back for this first round series against the Sabres.

“I mean that’s always the hope you keep,” said Savard. “Like I said, and I’ve said it before, I’ve got to be realistic here. When I’m 100 percent, condition-wise and mentally positive that I can do this, I’ll be ready to go.”
