Two great games on tonight, but thankfully I’m able to simultaneously watch both. With the games being played in Boston and Montreal, I’ve had to adjust my sound system to keep seismic fissures from forming in the foundation of my house.
Game 3: End of 1 - Montreal Canadiens 0, Washington Capitals 0
Series tied 1-1
While a lot of the “talk” headed into this game surrounded the supposed shakiness facing Jaroslav Halak, it’s Semyon Varlamov who has been under fire the most in the first period. Amidst an absolutely electric atmosphere at the Bell Centre, the Canadiens have put nothing but pressure on the Capitals and are a Jaroslav Spacek whiff on an open net from the Habs taking a 1-0 lead into intermission. Just a really fun game to watch; it’s physical, a great pace and the crowd is insanely loud.
Just....never boo the national anthem. That’ll ruin things in a hurry.
Game 3: End of 1 - Boston Bruins 1, Buffalo Sabres 1
Series tied 1-1
The Bruins were able to withstand a tremendous push by the Sabres, countering Mike Grier’s first goal of the playoffs with a booming Dennis Wideman slapshot. Tuukka Rask has been solid, as has Ryan Miller, but otherwise it’s been a bit of nondescript game. It was getting a bit chippy, once more, at the end of the period so we’ll see what sort of shenanigans these teams can get into.
