In it, they discuss a myriad of topics from a busy day in the NHL — Sidney Crosby’s 12-year, $104.4 million deal most notably — and look ahead to Sunday’s free agency. Where will prized UFAs like Zach Parise, Ryan Suter and Justin Schultz land?

PHT Extra: Comeback chances, perturbed Sutter and, of course, NBA analysis

2012 NHL Stanley Cup Final – Game Four

In the latest installment of PHT Extra, Mike Halford and Jason Brough previewed Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals, set to go Saturday night (8pm ET, NBC) from the Prudential Center in New Jersey.

The Devils will look to stave off elimination once again — if they do, how will it affect the Kings’ psyche? That’s one of the topics discussed, along with Darryl Sutter’s amusement at media queries and what New Jersey might’ve gleaned…from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Enjoy.

PHT Extra: Coyotes lose composure, Patrick Kane parties

Patrick Kane
4 Comments

In the latest installment of PHT Extra, Mike Halford and Jason Brough — they’re like Kid ‘n Play, minus the exciting House Parties — talk composure. Specifically, people lacking it.

Like the Phoenix Coyotes, who on Tuesday took a series of dumb penalties en route to a 4-0 home loss to LA in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals. The ‘Yotes now trail two games to none and have a huge hole to dig out of.

Speaking of composure, how about Patrick Kane? The Blackhawks star showed very little of it while drunkenly touring through the University of Wisconsin during Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Picture phones were brandished, Madison police were involved and the Chicago media has been ruthless in its assessment of Kane’s hard-partying ways.

We discuss these topics and more. Enjoy:

PHT Extra: Future’s bright for Phoenix, less so for Nashville

Coyotes Predators 2
8 Comments

In the latest episode of PHT Extra, Mike Halford and Jason Brough — aka “The Balki and Cousin Larry of hockey blogging” — discuss the aftermath of the recently completed Phoenix-Nashville series.

For the Coyotes, good times are ahead. The team will participate in the first Western Conference finals in franchise history and a new ownership group — led by former Sharks CEO Greg Jamison — has a purchase agreement for the club.

For the Predators…yeah, not so much. The team was bounced in Round 2 for the second consecutive year in a hailstorm of controversy stemming from the Alex Radulov/Andrei Kostitsyn curfew violation. Now there are major questions about the future of Ryan Suter and Shea Weber.

So let’s go to the video, shall we?
