Edmonton’s Ales Hemsky is using an inside track to land a job in the Czech league — his father.
Hemsky will join CSOB Pojistovna Pardubice, the team he suited up for during the 04-05 lockout, while the NHL and NHLPA figure their own business out as the team’s site reports (Czech). Hemsky’s father, Petr, is a manager with the club.
The Oilers’ scoring winger has dealt with injury troubles during his career in Edmonton, but when he was with Pardubice during the last lockout, he helped them win the Czech league title. Not a bad pickup to make for them, but it’s nice to have dad there to help things along.
The Pardubice site also says they’re close to landing Boston center and Czech native David Krejci as well. He has no history with the team as he was playing in junior hockey during the last work stoppage.
