Bobby Ryan

The Sabres are still interested in Bobby Ryan

It seems the Sabres have had a long-running affinity for Bobby Ryan. We’ve read rumors about their interest in him in the past and now with Ryan looking like he’s on the outs in Anaheim, Buffalo would like to take him off their hands.

Bucky Gleason of The Buffalo News reports the Sabres are expressing their interest yet again in the Ducks’ goal scoring whiz but they may not have the players necessary to make it happen.

Any deal with Buffalo would likely include Derek Roy, whom the Sabres have been shopping for the past two summers. Ryan doesn’t have reservations about coming to Buffalo other than its need for a true playmaker. That would make Philly a better fit at this point.

Ah yes, Philly, the team Ryan said he should be traded to following his rant about not being wanted in Anaheim. If Ryan is that concerned over having a playmaker, being next to Claude Giroux wouldn’t be so bad. Buffalo can’t exactly offer Ryan that sort of help pitching him Tyler Ennis or Cody Hodgson as a set-up man.

Bob Murray is disappointed in Bobby Ryan’s comments

Bobby Ryan

Yesterday, Bobby Ryan essentially asked to be traded out of Anaheim, preferably to Philadelphia. As you might expect, this didn’t sit too well with Ducks GM Bob Murray.

Murray tells Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register he’s not exactly pleased with Ryan.

“I’d just like to say I’m disappointed at this time by these comments,” Murray said. “I intend to talk to Bobby personally when we get back from the draft and clear the air a little bit. And that’s all I have to say at this present time.”

Ryan’s name has been in the trade-rumor mill for a while, and that sort of thing can wear on anyone. However, it’s rare to be as publicly blunt about it. All that was missing was Reggie Dunlop telling him to hang up the phone after demanding a trade. Given Ryan’s comments you wonder if Murray can “clear the air” or if this is it for Ryan in Anaheim.

Frustrated by constant rumors, Bobby Ryan would welcome trade to Philly

Bobby Ryan

Bobby Ryan wants to be traded, and he’d love to be traded to Philadelphia.

Tuesday it was reported that the Ducks’ sniper was once again being shopped by the Ducks. Not surprisingly, there’s been a fair bit of interest in the 25-year-old Cherry Hill, New Jersey, native that’s coming off his fourth consecutive 30-goal season.

“I heard Anaheim was a little overwhelmed with offers and they only took four seriously, but none of the teams were mentioned to me other than Philly,” Ryan told the Courier-Post Friday in a phone interview. “Everybody wants to play in your hometown, but it would be tough because a lot of expectations come when you’re put into a situation like that. For me, if I’m moved, Philadelphia would be a very ideal and comfortable place for me.”

Ryan also had some harsh words for his current club, a sign his time with the Ducks is quickly running out.

“Anaheim to me has been a team over the past year that really has shown me nothing to prove that they want me here, unfortunately,” he said. “Obviously, it’s not the ideal situation. When you get drafted, you want to win championships with that team and every time they look to add a piece to the puzzle, I’m the piece going the other way.

“I gotta be honest with you. At this point, I don’t care. Move me…because it’s just tough going to the rink every day knowing that if something goes wrong, you’re going to be the guy moved.”

Report: Bobby Ryan “available” again

Bobby Ryan

Welcome back to the rumor mill, Bobby Ryan. It’s like you never left.

According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie, Ryan is once again “available.” The 25-year-old Anaheim forward was previously available in late November, according to a report. However, he was taken off the market when Ducks coach Randy Carlyle was fired and Bruce Boudreau was hired.

Ryan had 31 goals and 26 assists in 2011-12, his fourth consecutive 30-goal season.

Three years remain on Ryan’s contract at an annual cap hit of $5.1 million, after which he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

It’s worth noting at this point that Ducks forwards Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry have one year remaining on each of their contracts before they can become unrestricted. Both players are in line for raises (their current cap hits are $5.325 million each.)

If McKenzie’s information is accurate, perhaps Ryan is being shopped in order to free up salary to extend Getzlaf and Perry. The Ducks aren’t a team that’s likely to spend to the salary cap anytime soon.

Bobby Ryan throws himself into the Tim Tebow-Dianna Agron love mix

Bobby Ryan

Upon learning that Tim Tebow had been traded from Denver to New York, Anaheim Ducks forward Bobby Ryan tweeted a note of congrats…AND WARNING!

Just to explain what Ryan’s on about:

— Agron, 25, is one of the stars of Glee. She had been dating 28-year-old Sebastian Stan, an actor you may or may not have seen on Gossip Girl.

According to Fox News, Tebow is “smitten” with Agron, who may or may not have broken up with Stan.

“Tim has made no secret that he likes Dianna, and told her so, but she has remained faithful to Sebastian,” a source said.

But Agron and Stan, who live on separate coasts, apparently split recently for the second time. A source said they were going to live together but now have parted ways, citing the distance between them and their work commitments.

When asked about a split between Agron and Stan, a rep for Agron insisted, “Not true.”

— Does Ryan have a shot? Wait, doesn’t Ryan have a girlfriend? Because according to this, he attended the Twilight: Breaking Dawn premiere with her. Bet if he wasn’t single, he is now.

— Finally…no, this is not a cheap PHT ploy to cash in on the Tebow-mania sweeping search engines today.

— Our next post, “Sean Payton is not suspended from coaching in the NHL,” is.
