Bryan McCabe continued to climb Florida’s hockey operations ladder on Wednesday.
The club announced that McCabe, who was serving in a player development role, has been promoted to the role of director of player personnel.
“Bryan has excelled in helping develop our prospects both on and off the ice, with many of our young guys becoming core players during his time with the club,” Panthers GM Dale Tallon said in a release. “He has earned the opportunity to take on an expanded role within our day-to-day hockey operations.”
McCabe is just the latest ex-Panther to transition from his playing days to front office work. He formerly served as captain of the club, and played his 1,000th NHL game in a Florida uniform.
Two weeks ago, veteran Panthers forward Shawn Thornton announced his retirement in order to take a role as vice president of business operations.
