Blame game starts as Hornqvist puts Penguins up 2-0 late in Game 7

Patric Hornqvist capitalizes on a turnover with a backhanded goal over Braden Holtby and off the crossbar for a huge 2-0 lead vs. the Capitals in Game 7.

On social media, it feels like there’s a game of “Who’s to blame?” going on after the Pittsburgh Penguins took a shocking 2-0 lead over the Washington Capitals during the third period of Game 7.

One thing is clear: Patric Hornqvist scored it, and did so against his former long-time coach in Nashville, as Barry Trotz undoubtedly suffered on the Caps bench.

Now, some are blaming Kevin Shattenkirk and/or other Capitals for possible blunders, including perhaps screening Braden Holtby. Other are making fun of Holtby.

Whatever the case may be, the Capitals have a lot of time to come back, yet the situation is serious ... maybe even more serious than falling behind 3-1 in the series itself.

Update: 2-0 ended up being the final score. Read more about Game 7 here.
