With defenseman Shea Weber, Alexei Emelin and Jordie Benn all sitting out Friday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Montreal Canadiens made a late-season recall on Saturday morning.

The team announced that it has recalled 2016 first-round draft pick Mikhail Sergachev from the Windsor Spitfires on an emergency basis.

The Canadiens selected Sergachev with the No. 9 overall pick back in June, and outside of three games with the big club earlier this season has spent the entire year in Windsor where he has 43 points (10 goals, 33 assists) in 50 games.

In his three games with the Canadiens this season he has not recorded a point and is a plus-one.

The Canadiens are in Detroit on Saturday night but it is not yet known if Sergachev will be in the lineup.
