New York Islanders prospect Josh Ho-Sang had a bizarre day on Tuesday after getting recalled from the AHL on an emergency basis, expecting to play in their next game ... only to get sent back down to Bridgeport just hours later.

The initial recall prompted speculation that a trade was coming. No trade ever came (yet).

Just 24 hours later the Islanders have recalled Ho-Sang once again.

Given that it is trade deadline day the transactions could still probably tied to a potential roster move by general manager Garth Snow as he works to make sure the team gets back into the playoffs after a miserable start to the season. The other potential factor with calling him up now: Teams are only limited to four recalls following the trade deadline, and getting him up to the NHL level now ahead of the deadline would limit him from being one of those recalls later in the season.

Ho-Sang’s journey with the Islanders has been a tumultuous one at times but there is no questioning his talent or ability. This is his first year of pro hockey after an extremely successful career with the OHL’s Niagara Ice Dogs and in 48 games at the AHL level he has 10 goals and 26 assists this season.

The Islanders play again on Thursday at Dallas.
