If you were expecting to see a fight somewhere in the NHL on Saturday you probably were not looking for Nashville’s P.K. Subban and Florida’s Vincent Trocheck to be the ones dropping the gloves. Taking a quick look at their HockeyFights.com pages and you see that Subban fights maybe once per year, while Trocheck has been involved in just one fight in his entire NHL career to this point (and only two in the AHL).

They tried to add to their totals in the third period of Florida’s 7-4 win in Nashville on Saturday and, well ... it did not very well for anybody.

Including the official that was trying to break them up.

It all started deep in the Nashville zone when Subban seemingly tried to draw Trocheck into an altercation. When the two finally ended up dropping the gloves the “fight” simply resulted in the two tackling each other as Subban continued to blindly throw punches that seemed to make more contact with the linesman than they did on Trocheck.

Both players ended up getting five minute majors for fighting, whiles Subban ended up picking the extra two for roughing.

Trocheck ended up having quite the eventful day, scoring two goals, picking up an assist and getting credit for the fight to give him his first Gordie Howe Hat Trick.

The lone bright spot on the day for the Predators was forward Viktor Arvidsson recording a traditional hat trick by scoring three goals in the loss.
