Check out the logo and uniforms for Montreal’s new AHL team, the Laval Rocket

Starting next season the Montreal Canadiens’ AHL team is going to be a lot closer to the parent club when it moves from St. John’s to Laval, a Montreal suburb.

Back in September the Canadiens announced that the new team will be called the Laval Rocket, a tribute to Canadiens legend Maurice Richard.

On Tuesday, the Canadiens unveiled the logo and uniforms for the new team, and they are quite sharp. You can see the home and road uniforms up above.

From the Canadiens’ press release:

“We reached our objective by creating a logo and uniform that solidifies the historic link between the Rocket de Laval and the Canadiens, while honouring a Quebec legend, and by creating a new identity for a new generation of fans,” said Vincent Lucier, President of Place Bell, the team’s home for games. “We can proudly say that the Rocket is now solidly entrenched deep in the heart of Laval’s sports landscape and that our thirst for success is as strong as our desire to be proud ambassadors for the city of Laval.”

The Canadiens’ AHL affiliate had been located in Hamilton for years before the franchise moved to St. John’s at the start of the 2015-16 season. With the team now moving to Laval, it will be significantly easier for Canadiens personnel to see their top prospects play and for those same prospects to move back and forth between teams during recalls.
