Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand had a hearing with the department of player safety on Thursday morning for a “dangerous trip” on Niklas Kronwall that took place midway through the first period of Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.

The league announced that Marchand has been fined $10,000 for that trip, but will not be suspended for it. That fine is the maximum allowed under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

Here is a look at the play. It happened after Kronwall had passed the puck in the neutral zone and had his back turned to Marchand just outside of the blue line.

There was no penalty called on the play.

This is the eighth time Marchand has been fined or suspended since the start of the 2011-12 season, including two (a suspension and a fine) for slew footing.

Marchand is the Bruins’ leading scorer this season with 47 points (19 goals, 28 assists) in 51 games. The Bruins host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night.
