The Philadelphia Flyers will be without forward Matt Read on Saturday afternoon when they host the Boston Bruins.

General manager Ron Hextall announced before the game that Read is sidelined with a lower body injury and should be considered day-to-day. He played only eight minutes in the Flyers’ win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night, recording an assist.

Even though his possession numbers this season are among the best on the team he has still only managed six goals and five assists in 33 games this season, putting him right on track to match his production from a year ago.

He also missed nearly a month this season due to an upper body injury that sidelined him for most of December. He has struggled since returning from that injury, recording just a single assist and only seven shots on goal in six games.

Since their 10-game winning streak the Flyers have won just three of their past 12 games and are holding a narrow lead over the Carolina Hurricanes for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Along with the Read injury, the Flyers were also without defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere on Saturday after he was a healthy scratch following a tough game against Vancouver on Thursday. It is not the first time he has been a healthy scratch this season.
