Video: Crazy amount of rain falls during AHL outdoor game

We’re always worried about the weather in the days leading up to an outdoor game. Sometimes it cooperates and sometimes it doesn’t.

On Saturday night, it’s safe to say the weather was less than ideal for the AHL Outdoor Classic between the Bakersfield Condors (Oilers farm team) and Ontario Reign (Kings farm team) in Bakersfield, California.

As you can tell from the video at the top of the page, it rained...a lot.

As if 60 minutes wasn’t enough, this game needed to be settled in overtime, but it took Condors defenseman Griffin Reinhart just 46 seconds to end it in the extra frame.

“There’s nothing like it; it’s not really a hockey game,” said Reinhart, per Bakersfield.com. “I get you have to get through the game, but it’s tough. We had a guy get hurt from it (defenseman Dillon Simpson). It was an unfortunate loss for us, but it was the same for both teams.”
