Jared McCann is back in the National Hockey League.

After spending time with the Springfield Thunderbirds in the AHL, McCann was recalled to the Florida Panthers on Thursday -- the day after forward Seth Griffith suffered a concussion on a hit from Nikolaj Ehlers of the Winnipeg Jets, in an incident that drew the ire of Florida’s GM and interim coach Tom Rowe.

In 17 games with the Panthers this season, the 20-year-old McCann has one goal and three points. He had six points in 15 games down in the minors before getting called back up.

Not only did the Panthers lose to the Jets on Wednesday, but Griffith didn’t make it out of the first period.

Multiple reports on Thursday stated Griffith is expected to miss at least a week.

The Panthers, who have been beset by injuries throughout the season, including to top players Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov, are five points out of a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
