VIDEO: Buffalo’s Justin Bailey scored his first NHL goal, and it was a beauty

Justin Bailey finds the back of the net just 1:03 into the second period for his first NHL goal and the 3-0 Sabres lead.

The Buffalo Sabres entered Tuesday’s game in New York with losses in six of their past seven games, a stretch that had seen them score only 13 goals. They broke out of that goal scoring drought early against the Rangers with three goals in the first 24 minutes of the game thanks to Zemgus Girgensons, Evander Kane and Justin Bailey.

Bailey’s goal, which came just a couple of minutes into the second period, was his first goal in the NHL and it was an absolute beauty as he pounced on a Kevin Klein turnover in the slot, deked around Klein as he tried to slide back into the play, and then ripped a shot behind Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist while falling to the ice.

You can see it in the video above.

Bailey was a second-round pick by the Sabres in 2013 and had appeared in 11 games with the big club over the past two years without finding the back of the net. He changed that on Tuesday.
