Arizona Coyotes defenseman Anthony DeAngelo was ejected after the second period of the team’s 4-2 loss to the Calgary Flames on Saturday night for abuse of officials.
That will not be the end of his punishment.
The NHL announced on Sunday evening that DeAngelo has been suspended for three games without pay as a result of the incident. The suspension will cost him more than $14,000 in salary.
It all happened during a scrum following the second period when DeAngelo and Sam Bennett were involved in a skirmish that the officials quickly broke up. As DeAngelo was being restrained by linesman David Brisebois, he argued with the official and attempted to get away from him.
This was the incident.
