--Mike Wilson owns the biggest collections of Toronto Maple Leafs artifacts. He has over 2000 pieces and they can all be found in his basement. From game-worn jerseys to player contracts, he’s got it all. Earlier this month, Wilson welcomed the Conacher family into his home to check out the memorabilia he’s accumulated. --Lightning head coach Jon Cooper sat down for a Q & A with Sports Illustrated. They tackled a number of interesting topics, including Cooper’s background as a lawyer. " Public defending was survival. When I left law school, when I found out I passed the bar, I needed to make money. I wasn’t sure what I was doing. I didn’t have a job to go to. But I’d partnered with a woman who was a lawyer, and she was giving me old clients she had. It’s just life lessons out of the gate,” said Cooper. (Sports Illustrated)

--Avalanche first-rounder Tyson Jost is starring for Canada at this year’s World Junior Hockey Championship, but he didn’t take a conventional path to the tournament. Instead of playing in the WHL, Jost decided he would be better served by going to the University of North Dakota. “I think the idea of playing in a league like the BCHL and then the NCAA is something that more kids should think about. The WHL is good for a lot players, no doubt, but [major junior] isn’t right for everybody,” said Jost. (Sportsnet)

--The Ottawa Senators will be retiring Daniel Alfredsson’s number 11 prior to tonight’s game against the Detroit Red Wings. But had it not been for John Ferguson Sr., the Sens may have never ended up getting their hands on Alfredsson. “(Ferguson Sr.) was talking about Alfredsson long before people had any idea how good Alfredsson was and even internally. People had no idea how good the guy was going to be when he got over here,” John Ferguson Jr. told the Ottawa Citizen.
