It was a pretty big week for Florida Panthers forward Jaromir Jagr.

With five assists in the Panthers’ past three games, the 44-year-old Jagr was able to move into sole possession of second place on the NHL’s all-time scoring list with 1,889 points, passing Hockey Hall of Famer Mark Messier.

On Monday, the NHL announced that Jagr’s efforts made him the league’s No. 1 star of the week. Jagr Tied Messier with a three-assist performance in a shootout win over the Buffalo Sabres, then moved ahead of him two nights later in a loss to the Boston Bruins on a play where the puck bounced off of his butt to set up Aleksander Barkov.

Jagr’s five assists over the past week were more than any other player in the league during that stretch.

The Panthers collected three out of a possible six points as a team and remain four points out of a playoff spot in the Atlantic Division.

The NHL also announced on Monday that Los Angeles Kings forward Jeff Carter, thanks to five goals in three games, was the league’s second star of the week, while Edmonton Oilers goalie Cam Talbot was the third star. Talbot had a .926 save percentage in three games to help the Oilers to a 2-0-1 record over the past week.
