The Anaheim Ducks announced on Tuesday afternoon that they have signed forward Sam Steel, the second of their two first-round picks from the 2016 draft, to an entry level three-year contract.

The Ducks selected Steel with the No. 30 overall pick, six spots after selecting Max Jones.

The 18-year-old Steel is currently playing for Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League and is absolutely dominating it at the moment. As of Tuesday, he is leading the league with 54 points (23 goals, 31 assists) in only 25 games.

He had 70 points in 72 games a year ago.

The Ducks ended up with pick used to select Steel in the trade that sent goaltender Frederik Andersen to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto originally received that pick from Pittsburgh in the Phil Kessel trade.
