Carey Price was, understandably, not pleased with what occurred Friday against the San Jose Sharks.
He clearly didn’t like getting pulled after allowing four goals on 18 shots, which led Price to glare toward his own bench as he left the ice for the locker room.
Oh, the controversy!
On Saturday, facing a Washington Capitals team that had won six straight, Price was back to his usual self, stopping 20 of 21 shots faced as the Habs won by a final score of 2-1. The only goal he allowed was courtesy of Nicklas Backstrom on a five-on-three passing play that Price had virtually no chance of stopping.
But when the Habs needed a solid performance from their star goalie, even if this wasn’t his busiest night, Price stepped up and delivered, helping to increase Montreal’s lead in the Atlantic Division.
That is Price’s 250th career win.
There were some nervous moments Saturday for Habs fans.
Shea Weber hobbled to the bench in obvious pain after blocking a shot late in the second period. He briefly left the game, but did return at the beginning of the third period.
Jeff Petry’s goal, just over two minutes after Backstrom’s power play equalizer, proved to be the winner for the Habs.
