David Backes opened scoring against his former team, but it wasn't enough for the Bruins as the Blues outscored the home team 4-2 to close out their road trip.

--Former Orioles third baseman Cal Ripken Jr. spoke to the Washington Capitals. “He talked about everything from dealing with slumps to dealing with different situations, dealing with careers, dealing with longevity.” (NHL.com)

--On Tuesday, the Las Vegas team announced that they’d be called the “Golden Knights”. Sportsnet looked back on how each of the last 13 NHL teams came up with their team name. Let’s just say there was a lot of “name the expansion team” contests. (Sportsnet)

--Before playing against his old team last night, Bruins forward David Backes had some of his old teammates over for Thanksgiving dinner. “I tried to weigh them down with a bunch of steak and had my wife coming around with wine.” (The Score)

--Speaking of Backes, he managed to score a goal against his former team, but it wasn’t enough to give the Bruins the victory. You can watch the highlights of last night’s game between Boston and St. Louis by clicking the video at the top of the page.

--Did you know that Mike Babcock gives his backup goalies some written work to do on the bench during games? Read about that and a number of other fantastic stories about backup goaltenders. (Sports Illustrated)

--The Hockey News’ Matt Larkin doesn’t believe the Columbus Blue Jackets can stick to their winning ways. There are four reasons why he thinks they’ll drop off in the next few weeks. Hint: Their injury-prone goalie is one of the reasons. (The Hockey News)

--Devils goalie Scott Wedgewood is a big “Seinfeld” fan. He took to his Instagram account to show off his mask that has a picture of David Puddy on the side. He put the picture of Puddy on last year, but he’s improved it somewhat. Of course, if you don’t understand the reference (where have you been?) you can click here and everything will make sense.
