From injury, to trade rumors, to a lack of production, to his coach calling him out for undisciplined play, this has been a turbulent start to the season on the ice for Evander Kane.
The Buffalo Sabres forward has one assist in seven games after returning to the lineup from his earlier rib injury -- and offseason off-ice issues as well.
Speculation about a possible trade involving the Vancouver Canucks has swirled for weeks, especially with the Canucks in the market for a scoring forward, although it appears that idea has dried up in recent days.
But with all the trade talk, Kane has tried to set the record straight about how he feels playing for the Sabres -- in just his second year with the franchise.
“I like to think I’m pretty well informed, but at the same time you never know what can happen. I don’t worry about it. I’m very, very, very happy with where I’m at here in Buffalo. And maybe I couldn’t have said that in the past in my career,” Kane told the Buffalo News.
The Sabres ended a six-game losing streak by stunning the Pittsburgh Penguins of all teams in a shootout on Saturday. After recording his first point of the season last Thursday, Kane went out against the Penguins and had two shots on goal in 21:30 of ice time.
The Sabres play the Calgary Flames on Monday. It’s a chance for Buffalo to win two in a row, which has happened only once so far this season.
