The Carolina Hurricanes earned their best win of the season on Saturday, with a 5-1 domination of the Washington Capitals.
Today, more good news for the ‘Canes, as defenseman Justin Faulk is no longer on injured reserve, freeing him to play tonight against the visiting San Jose Sharks.
Faulk missed three games with an upper-body injury. He had three goals and three assists in his first 11 outings.
“It’s been eight days or whatever, so it hasn’t been that long a layoff,” said Faulk, per the News & Observer. “It should be fine. I’ve been getting better every day.”

Saturday’s victory over the Caps offered a glimpse of what the ‘Canes can do, so long as they get the saves from either Cam Ward or Eddie Lack. Carolina outshot Washington, 38-21, with rookie Sebastian Aho finally breaking through, potting the first two goals of his NHL career.
Aho skated on a line with Jordan Staal and Teuvo Teravainen, each of whom finished with a goal and three assists.
“Tonight, that was a very good line,” coach Bill Peters told reporters. “And that should be a good line. There’s plenty of hockey sense there. Teravainen seems like he’s kind of fitting in and comfortable. Now that Aho’s gotten on the board, I think he’s going to take a step also.”
