In the words of Gary Bettman: “We have a trade to announce!”
The New Jersey Devils on Saturday acquired forward Petr Straka from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick.
Per the Devils, the conditional pick is for either the 2017 or 2018 draft.
Originally a second-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2010, Straka has played in three NHL games with the Flyers. He has recorded two assists.
Straka has been a productive forward in the AHL, with 19 goals and 37 points in 64 games last season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Per Andrew Gross of The Record, Straka will report to the Albany Devils in the AHL.
Meanwhile, the NHL’s Devils host the Buffalo Sabres tonight, looking for a fourth straight game. They will once again be without forward Mike Cammalleri, who missed Friday’s game against the Sabres due to personal reasons.
