Wow.
It’s been a bad night for the Montreal Canadiens. Somehow, it could still get worse.
Riding an eight-game winning streak, the Habs went into Columbus on Friday and, well, it all fell apart against the Blue Jackets.
Al Montoya got the start in net, giving Carey Price the night off. And what a disastrous night for Montoya. The Blue Jackets scored eight goals -- eight! -- on 32 shots on Montoya ... before the end of the second period!
The eighth goal, scored by Josh Anderson, pretty much sums up this game for Montreal.
Anderson merely drifts a backhander by a crowd of bodies in front of the net and by Montoya, who didn’t even appear to move on the play.
That tied a Blue Jackets franchise record for goals scored in a game, so it’s been a good night for them.
But yeah, it could still get worse for the Habs.
Oh. And there is this, too:
Al Montoya= 1st MTL goalie with 8+ GA in a game before the 3rd period since Patrick Roy's final game as a Hab on Dec 2, 1995 (9 GA in 31:57)
