There has been an encouraging development for the Boston Bruins, following a difficult time with injuries last week.

Best case scenario: David Backes could resume skating within the “next day or two” following surgery on his elbow, according to Bruins head coach Claude Julien on Monday. That’s the good news.

However, the coach also said that Backes is doubtful for Boston’s next two games, which are on the road against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday and the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.

Last week, Backes had a procedure done to remove the olecranon bursa from his elbow.

Beginning tomorrow, the Bruins have a stretch of eight games in 13 days, including a pair of back-to-backs.

In five games with the Bruins, Backes has two goals and four points.
