Jeff Petry will be in the Montreal Canadiens lineup, which means rookie and 2016 first-round pick Mikhail Sergachev will be a healthy scratch against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
Petry missed the Habs’ season opener Thursday against Buffalo due to injury, reportedly suffered at the end of the pre-season, while Sergachev made his NHL debut with 11:48 of ice time.
“It was kind of a fluke incident and I’m glad it wasn’t serious,” said Petry of his injury, as per the Habs website.
“I didn’t know [how long I’d be out for after it happened], so when I got evaluated they said it was going to be a short period and I was glad to hear that. It was just about getting back to work and taking the steps to make it feel better as quickly as possible.”
Petry hasn’t played an NHL regular season game since Feb. 7. He was held out of the lineup down the stretch last season and eventually underwent sports hernia surgery in March.
Meanwhile, Al Montoya will once again start in net for the Habs, as their star Carey Price continues to deal with the flu.
