Could West Point host an outdoor NHL game?

Apparently, according to a report on Sunday, this could be a possible site for such an event in the future.

The Florida Panthers and New Jersey Devils played an (indoor) exhibition game at West Point on Saturday. But the chance of an outdoor game there seems to be gaining traction.

From Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet:

At the World Cup, there was a rumour going around the NHL is considering an outdoor game at the football stadium. Proximity makes the Rangers the host. There are two franchises with ownership ties to the army that would undoubtedly want to play — Florida and Las Vegas.

Larry Brooks of the New York Post later added to that report on Sunday, saying on Twitter that the NHL has already done an initial survey of the site.

Capacity at Michie Stadium is 38,000, according to West Point’s athletics website.
