Brooks Laich finds himself on waivers once again.

The Maple Leafs put Laich on waivers, as per a report Sunday from James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail. The 33-year-old forward is in the final year of his six-year contract, which carries a pricey annual cap hit of $4.5 million. He was put on waivers last season, then as a member of the Washington Capitals.

He cleared, but was eventually traded to Toronto at the deadline, a difficult feeling for the veteran forward considering he had played more than 740 games with the Capitals, a team that was tops in the NHL during the regular season and had aspirations of a Stanley Cup.

If he clears waivers once again, Laich could be reassigned to the AHL.

In 81 games last season, split between Washington and Toronto, Laich scored only twice with 14 points.
