Former Blackhawks defenseman David Rundblad is staying in Switzerland, as he signed a one-year contract with the Zurich Lions.

The 25-year-old played nine games with the ‘Hawks last season. He was also loaned to Zurich last January before making a return to Chicago before the start of the playoffs.

In July, both the team and Rundblad decided to terminate his NHL contract so that he could explore different options.

The financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but Rundblad was originally scheduled to make $1.1 million in 2016-17.
