A broken ankle puts an end to Trevor Daley’s postseason

Penguins' Trevor Daley takes a hit against the boards, injures his leg and heads to locker room.

Not good news if you’re a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed that defenseman Trevor Daley suffered a broken ankle in Game 4. His season is over.

This is a huge loss for the Penguins. The 32-year-old had one goal and six points in 15 playoff games this postseason. He was averaging over 22 minutes of ice time per game this spring.

Daley was injured after taking an innocent-looking hit from Bolts forward Ryan Callahan in the second period of Friday’s Game 4 loss (top).

It looks like Daley’s injury will give Olli Maatta another opportunity to prove himself. Maatta was paired with Kris Letang during the team’s morning skate on Sunday.
