You don’t see this every day: Greiss briefly leaves game with broken skate blade (Video)

Not something you see every day, but the Islanders were briefly without starting goaltender Thomas Greiss due to skate repairs after his blade popped out.

It didn’t look good at first. Turns out, Thomas Greiss was just in need of some equipment repairs.

The New York Islanders goalie had to briefly leave Game 4 against the Tampa Bay Lightning after his right goalie skate blade apparently broke. Equipment staff tried to fix the problematic skate at the bench but Greiss eventually had to go to the room, forcing back-up Jean-Francois Berube off the bench and into the game.

Berube played 4:47, before Greiss returned to action.

The Lightning were unable to take advantage of facing Berube cold off the bench, failing to even the score in the second period.
