From a standings standpoint, Brandon Saad’s debut season with the Columbus Blue Jackets hasn’t exactly gone as planned.

Saad has been producing at a nice clip, and Saturday might have been the highlight of his 2015-16, as he generated the first hat trick of his career in the Blue Jackets’ 5-1 win against the Carolina Hurricanes.

With 28 goals, Saad has a solid chance to produce the first 30-goal season of his career.

The Hurricanes saw their playoff hopes officially dashed thanks to this loss, which also included a Boone Jenner buzzer-beater for the rising power forward’s 30th tally.
