The Washington Capitals defeated the Minnesota Wild on Friday, without defenseman John Carlson, who was scratched from the lineup due to a lower-body injury.
Carlson missed a stretch of 12 games from late December through late January and it appears that same injury is still bothering the 26-year-old blue liner, according to Capitals head coach Barry Trotz.
“He probably saw the doctors tonight and we’ll probably have an update (on Saturday) because I don’t really know yet,” said Trotz, as per CSN Mid-Atlantic.
“He’s not 100 percent or he would have played tonight. It is a lingering of the old injury so we just want to have the opportunity to let’s get it settled down or fixed.
“Whatever we need to do let’s just do it so that it’s not lingering on.”
The Capitals trailed the Wild going into the third period before Alex Ovechkin scored his 40th of the season and Dmitry Orlov notched the eventual winner in a 3-2 Washington victory.
After winning four straight games to begin the John Torchetti tenure, the Wild has now lost three straight.
