Dennis Wideman, NHLPA’s appeal to neutral party begins Thursday

NIendB3Rolh1
The NHLPA has announced they will utilize independent arbitration following the decision to uphold the 20-game suspension. This will be the first time independent arbitration has been utilized under the new CBA.

It’s now official: the NHLPA will appeal to a neutral arbitrator on Dennis Wideman’s behalf regarding his 20-game suspension. This comes a little less than a week after NHL commissioner Gary Bettman decided to uphold the league’s decision.

The union announced that the case will be heard on Thursday and Friday.

They didn’t provide additional information beyond that in this official tweet:

If Wideman sits out that full 20 games, he’d be eligible to return during a March 14 home game against the St. Louis Blues.
