Big relief: Infant struck by P.K. Subban’s souvenir puck seems OK

It sounds like the worst-case scenario was avoided following a “freak accident” during Sunday’s Montreal Canadiens practice.

As the Montreal Gazette reports, P.K. Subban sent a souvenir puck into the stands, which was batted around and eventually ended up hitting a one-month old baby. That’s horrific, but the good news is that the child’s mother, Valérie Meloche, announced that her child is OK.

Granted, it still sounded like a scary scene, as the Gazette’s John Meagher notes.

The infant suffered a concussion, according to the mother, and there were reports the child received CPR on site. The child spent the night under observation at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, but was released on Monday.

(TVA also has a report on it.)
