Just as David Jones planned. OK, probably not.
The Calgary Flames forward scored a strange one Wednesday, as his wrist shot off the rush deflected off the stick of a Minnesota Wild defender, then banked off the head of defenseman Matt Dumba and into the top corner behind a helpless Devan Dubnyk.
For Jones, that’s his ninth goal of the season.
Despite such luck, the Flames still lost to the Wild by a final score of 5-3, with their third-period comeback bid falling short.
Minnesota has now won two in a row under interim coach John Torchetti, and is two points behind Nashville for the final Wild Card spot in the West.
