Video: Sabres lose Reinhart for one week after collision versus Avs (Updated)

Bad news, good news sort of day in Buffalo.

The bad is that Sam Reinhart, the No. 2 overall pick at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, suffered an upper-body injury against Colorado on Wednesday, one that will keep him out of the lineup for a week.

The good news?

He won’t miss many games.

Buffalo has just three games left until the All-Star break -- tonight against Detroit, Monday at MSG and Tuesday in Ottawa.

Reinhart, who has 12 goals and 20 points in 47 games this season, will be replaced by AHL Rochester call-up Cal O’Reilly on the active roster. O’Reilly is the older brother of Buffalo’s All-Star center, Ryan O’Reilly.

Cal is expected to play wing next to Jack Eichel and Jamie McGinn on the second line against Detroit this evening.

Update: The Sabres have also placed forward Zemgus Girgensons on IR, which was the transaction actually linked to the O’Reilly recall.
