The shot totals don’t paint a flattering picture for the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.
But they have Cory Schneider as their goaltender and he stole them a victory over the Arizona Coyotes, who had their seven-game point streak snapped but remain second in the Pacific Division.
New Jersey had only 16 shots on goal. The Coyotes had 38. And yet the Devils managed to come away with a 2-0 win. Reid Boucher scored his first of the season and Kyle Palmieri added the insurance goal 18 seconds into the third period.
And Schneider, among the league leaders in numerous goaltender categories, continued to shut the door.
The Coyotes nearly hit the century mark for shot attempts. They had 96 attempts in total, as per hockeystats.ca. Schneider was unbeatable and the Devils blocked 27 shots.
The Devils have now won games this season in which they had 16 shots on goal (today) and 17 shots on goal (4-3 at Detroit on Dec. 22).

Yeah, just a tad lopsided -- except on the scoreboard.
