Calgary’s current four-game road swing started promisingly last night with a 2-1 OT win in Nashville, but took a decided downturn today.

The Flames announced that versatile forward Michael Frolik suffered an injury, one that will force him to miss the remainder of the trip. The club also confirmed Frolik had been sent back to Calgary for further evaluation.

Losing the 27-year-old’s services will hurt. Frolik is having a pretty solid offensive campaign -- seven goals and 16 points in 30 games -- and averages over 15 minutes a night, playing in a variety of situations.

Signed to a five-year, $21.5 million deal in free agency this summer, Frolik’s in his first season with Calgary after spending last year with the Jets.

With Frolik out, Josh Jooris will draw back into the lineup for Thursday’s game in Dallas.
