Tuesday presents a rare sight: the New York Rangers playing without defenseman Dan Girardi.
He’s day-to-day with swelling in his knee, so he’s not in against the Edmonton Oilers.
More than a few people joke that the Rangers are better off without Girardi, who only seems to draw more criticism as time passes. (Even Girardi acknowledged his struggles, although he implied that there’s been some improvement.)
If nothing else, Girardi’s been remarkably durable for a defenseman who isn’t shy about blocking shots.
Until tonight, Dan Girardi had played 682 of possible 687 games (plus 108 of 108 in playoffs) since 1/27/07 NHL debut. #HockeyWarrior
