Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer won’t be behind the bench for Saturday’s game against the Penguins because of a “personal matter”.
General Manager Doug Wilson made the announcement in a team release on Saturday morning.
The team’s three assistant coaches will all help fill the void behind the bench.
Assistant Coaches Steve Spott, Bob Boughner, and Johan Hedberg will jointly handle the coaching duties tonight. #SJSharks #SJSvsPIT

All three coaches are relatively new to the Sharks organization.
Boughner played 11 seasons in the NHL and is in his first season as an assistant with the Sharks. He has eight years of head coaching experience with the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires.
Hedberg last played in an NHL game with the New Jersey Devils in 2012-13. He’s in his first season as an NHL coach and just his second year behind the bench, overall. Hedberg served as the Albany Devils’ goaltending coach last year.
Spott never played in the NHL, but has been a head coach in both the OHL (Kitchener) and AHL (Toronto Marlies). He was also an assistant coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2014-15.
