The Ottawa Senators announced that they’ve recalled defenseman Michael Kostka from AHL Binghamton.

This is Kostka’s first stint with the team since being signed as a free agent last summer.

The 29-year-old has played in 35 NHL games with the Rangers, Lightning and Blackhawks over the last two seasons.

He has one goal and six points in 13 games in the AHL this season.

Kostka will be taking Patrick Wiercioch’s spot on the roster.

Wiercioch suffered a head injury in Thursday’s win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. He won’t suit up in Saturday’s game against Philadelphia and he’ll likely miss the team’s upcoming three-game western swing that begins on Tuesday.

Ottawa is already without Chris Phillips and Jared Cowen.
