Guy Boucher can start looking for a new job sooner than we thought. He’s been fired by SC Bern in Switzerland.
Boucher’s original intention was to return to North America after the season. But three straight losses by the Swiss club, dropping its record to 10-12-0, changed that plan. He can return home now.
This past summer, Boucher was reportedly close to becoming the Maple Leafs’ head coach, before Mike Babcock took the job.
Should any NHL team consider a coaching change mid-season, expect to hear Boucher’s name listed as a possible replacement.
Boucher coached the Tampa Bay Lightning for 195 games from 2010-14, compiling a record of 97-78-20.
Update:

So he can’t come home quite yet. The Spengler Cup starts the day after Christmas.
