Isles put Hickey (upper body) on IR

Washington Capitals v New York Islanders - Game Six

Washington Capitals v New York Islanders - Game Six

New York put d-man Thomas Hickey on injured reserve Friday, after learning earlier this week he’d miss about a month of action with an upper-body injury.

Hickey, who’s missed just one game over the last two years, was penciled in as the club’s third-pairing blueliner, along with veteran free agent acquisition Marek Zidlicky.

With him out of the lineup, it seems likely that Ryan Pulock -- the 15th overall pick at the ’13 draft -- will stick with the club out of training camp and get a shot at his NHL debut. At 6-foot-2, 212 pounds, Pulock has good size but also brings some serious offensive flair to the table; last year with AHL Bridgeport, he scored 17 goals and 29 points in just 54 games.
